According to a Financial Times report relayed by Tom's Hardware, Nvidia has informally asked data-center operators worldwide to keep business from Chinese customers below 49% of new contracts, so that at least 51% comes from non-Chinese companies. The guidance reportedly applies globally and only to new and future contracts, not existing leases, and was conveyed orally by sales and regional teams without a formal document, leaving it unconfirmed. Nvidia defended current U.S. policy, saying U.S. chips underpin the global competitiveness of American model and application providers and that the policy encourages cloud providers to accept business from various regions on U.S. infrastructure.
